What’s in my makeup bag at 47.

I've been meaning to do this post for a while — pull everything out of my everyday makeup bag and actually talk through why each thing earned its spot. A few of these are new, a few I've had for years, and one or two are still winning me over. Let's start with the bag itself, because it deserves its own moment.

About the Bag

My actual travel makeup bag

I'll be honest — this is one of my favorite finds this year. I've seen versions of this exact silhouette from designer brands running well over $100, and the truth is, side by side, I genuinely can't tell the difference. Same structure, same compartments, same quality finish. This one was $30.

Small enough to actually get into the corners under my eyes without dragging or creasing anything.

This one does more work than any other brush I own. Bronzer, blush, a little contour — it's the one I grab when I'm in a hurry.

Buffs foundation in without eating half the product, which matters more to me now than it used to.

Base

wet n wild Photo Focus Dewy Liquid Foundation

wet n wild Photo Focus Dewy Liquid Foundation, Soft Beige

My everyday foundation. Dewy without looking greasy by hour six, and the price makes it easy to keep repurchasing without thinking twice.

e.l.f. Hydrating Camo Concealer, Fair Beige

Does exactly what I need under the eyes without settling into fine lines — but it only works this well because I moisturize really well underneath first. My eye cream plus the RoC eye balm below are non-negotiable prep steps before this goes on.

RoC Multi Correxion Revive + Glow Eye Balm

RoC Multi Correxion Revive + Glow Eye Balm with Vitamin C

This is the prep step I mentioned above — I pat this in before concealer to keep everything hydrated and smooth. Skipping it is the difference between concealer that sits beautifully and concealer that creases by noon.

Catrice Under Eye Brightener Color Corrector, 010 Light Rose

I use this under concealer on mornings when I clearly didn't sleep enough. Cancels out the dullness before anything else goes on.

Westman Atelier Vital Pressed Skincare Blurring Talc-Free Setting Powder, Pink Bubble

Sets everything without looking powdery or flat. This is the step that keeps my makeup from sliding around by midday. I love it — but at this price point, I'm holding off on repurchasing (more on that below).

CoverGirl TruBlend Skin Enhancer Blush, Rose Latte

My newest addition — I picked this up literally today, so I haven't tried it yet. But I've loved everything else in this line, so I'm expecting good things.

Westman Atelier Beauty Butter Matte Powder Bronzer, Coupe de Soleil

Warms everything up without turning orange, which is genuinely rare for me to say about a bronzer. Do I love it? Yes. Did it change my life? No. Honestly, I won't be repurchasing this one just because of the price — there are so many more affordable options I want to try now.

Summer Fridays Blush Butter Balm, Toasted Terracotta

Summer Fridays Blush Butter Balm, Toasted Terracotta

For the days I want a cream flush instead of powder. Melts into skin like it was never applied. It's hard to say this about a blush, but this might genuinely be my current favorite.

e.l.f. Sheer For It Blush Tint

e.l.f. Sheer For It Blush Tint, Maple Latte & Burgun-did That

My current step-up pick after realizing most bronzers read orange on me. These lean golden and buildable instead — like the flush I got from being at the beach all day as a kid. Like my daughters have right now, from being in the pool every single day this summer.

Warm, foolproof, and small enough that I never have to think about what to pack. I believe this one may be discontinued, so no link here — but keep an eye out if you spot it.

The One You Can't See

Magnifying Mirror

Magnifying Mirror

It's buried under everything in the photos so you can't actually see it, but this is an absolute necessity for traveling — plucking eyebrows, checking for creasing, keeping my eyeliner on a straight line. I wouldn't pack without it.
