My Skincare Routine at 47 — And the Product That Gave Me Instant Results
I turned 47 last week. And I have to say — my skin has never felt better. Not because of anything dramatic, not because of a facial or a procedure. Because of a product I ordered during Prime Day that cost me less than $35 and genuinely surprised me after two uses.
I want to talk about that product, but I also want to walk you through my full routine, because nothing works in isolation. This is what I actually do, every night, with products I've tried, tested, and genuinely love — all from Amazon.
A little background: I have what I'd call normal-to-dry skin — not the kind of dry that feels tight or flaky, but the kind that needs moisturizer every single night without exception. Skip it once and I feel it immediately. For a long time I used the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant as my exfoliant. It worked fine. But I kept hearing about Paula's Choice, and when Prime Day came around, I decided it was finally time to try it.
I was not expecting what happened next.
"With skincare, you're always told to give a product time. This was different. The results were instant, and that never happens to me."

Paula's Choice
Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant
I used this for the first time on a Saturday. The next morning, when I put my moisturizer on, I stopped and touched my face again. Baby skin. I know that sounds like something people say in reviews — but I'm telling you, it was that noticeable, that fast. I will not go back to my old exfoliant. This is it.
I apply it directly with my hands — no cotton pad — wait until it's completely dry, then follow with moisturizer. I use it twice a week, never on the same nights as my retinal.
Naturium
Retinaldehyde Cream Serum 0.10%
Retinaldehyde is a step up from retinol but gentler than prescription retinoids — the sweet spot for anti-aging without the harshness. I use this on the nights I'm not using Paula's Choice. The two together, alternating, is the best my skin has ever looked.
Illiyoon
Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream
After either the BHA or the retinal is fully dry, this goes on. Korean ceramide cream designed for dry and sensitive skin — genuinely one of the best moisturizers I've used at any price point. It absorbs well, not greasy, and keeps my skin hydrated all night. 50K+ people buy it every month on Amazon. There's a reason.
NassifMD
Hydro-Screen Serum
When my skin needs more — which happens, especially in drier months — I add this on top of the moisturizer. Hyaluronic acid, retinol, and ceramides that lock everything in. I call it a holy grail because it genuinely is. My skin feels different the next morning when I use it.
Medicube
PDRN Pink Peptide Eye Cream
Also part of my Prime Day haul. Super hydrating — the eye area feels moisturized all the way through to the morning. I love the feel of it. Sinks in without feeling heavy. 50K+ bought last month, and I understand why.
Paula's Choice Nights — Twice a Week
Paula's Choice BHA → wait to dry → Illiyoon Ceramide Cream → NassifMD Serum if needed → Medicube Eye Cream
Retinal Nights — Remaining Nights
Naturium Retinaldehyde Serum → wait to dry → Illiyoon Ceramide Cream → NassifMD Serum if needed → Medicube Eye Cream
That's it. Nothing complicated, nothing expensive in the grand scheme of skincare, all available on Amazon. BHA and retinal should never be used on the same night — they can irritate each other and you won't get the benefit of either. Alternate, be consistent, and give it time.
Start with the Paula's Choice. At 47, with normal-to-dry skin, after just a few uses — I stopped mid-routine to feel my own face. That doesn't happen. If you have questions about any of these products, come find me on Instagram @at.home.with.elena — I read every DM.
